Universal Health close to buying Psychiatric Solutions for USD2bn

US behavioural healthcare facilities operator Psychiatric Solutions (NASDAQ:PSYS) is nearing a USD2bn (EUR1.6bn) cash deal to be acquired by hospital operator Universal Health Services (NYSE:UHS), Reuters reported on Sunday citing informed sources.
As part of the deal, Universal Health will pay USD33.75 per share in cash, one of the insiders said. Based on Friday’s closing price, Psychiatric Solutions’s market capitalisation totals USD1.87bn.
In March, Psychiatric Solutions announced it has picked Goldman Sachs (NYSE:GS) as its financial advisor after it was approached by third parties over a possible takeover offer.
